President’s Corner May 2014
Hello Fellow Skalleagues,
May’s dinner meeting was fantastic! Peter Kreuziger, and his talented staff treated us to not only a fantastic dinner with wine parings, but a spectacular view overlooking the intracoastal waterway, providing us with a beautiful Florida Sunset while dining
It was truly Bon Appetit!!
I had the honor of pinning George Bentley as our newest club member, and George also had the honor of winning the 50/50 ($110)!!
George Hoch has recently returned from representing the club at NAASC (North American Alliance of Skal Clubs) which took place in Halifax NS this year. He did a great synopsis with beautiful pictures of the area, and a proposal that SKAL Tampa Bay host the upcoming SIUSA Board meeting the end of Jan or beginning of Feb 2015. We will be receiving the guidelines necessary for hosting, and will put them out to all of you who might be interested in bidding.
YOUNG SKAL - A subject I have chosen to focus on this year during my term, is re-building Young SKAL at our club. As destiny would have it, Wilfried Iskat, was present (a past Tampa Bay SKAL member that is passionate and committed to Young SKAL) and was gracious enough to give a short talk about the importance of continuing to grow the club with new young hospitality individuals. I’m confident none of us have to look too far to find a potential up and coming young hospitality person that would be a perfect candidate as a Young SKAL member! As a reminder………..
Young SKAL Student – Is a student at an authorized, tourism, educational establishment which grants a degree or recognized diploma upon completion of studies. Ages 18 – 27.
Young SKAL Professional - Is a young professional training for or working in the industry. Ages 20 – 29.
Young SKAL Associate - Is a Young SKAL professional still training for or working in the industry after the age of 29 who does not yet qualify for Active membership may continue as Young SKAL Associate member until the age of 35.
I hope to see everyone at our upcoming June 9th meeting, which will be held at the new Epicurean Hotel in Tampa!
Dan Peretz, President, SKAL Tampa Bay
HAPPY 55th ANNIVERSARY SKAL TAMPA BAY!
